Tuesday, September 29, was a special night at Best Buy headquarters. FOX 9's Jeff Passolt was the moderator at an event where 8 transplant recipients, who are now diabetes-free (10 years and counting for one recipient), shared their stories. They talked about their personal experiences with diabetes and the islet transplant surgery that has transformed their lives.
University of Minnesota scientists Drs. Bernhard Hering and Meri Firpo were there to share the very latest information about the use of cell-based therapies in islet transplantation.
